Campedelli’s team secured their first Category 3B victory in the FIA EHRC continental championship thanks to the excellent performance of their crew aboard the high-performance and reliable Ford Escort MKII
The Acropolis Rally in Greece, as usual, proved to be one of the most challenging of the European Historic Rally Championship, putting cars and crews to the test.
An intense two-day event on gravel stages made even more challenging by the uneven surface and numerous rocks on the roads. Stages with fast services and regrouping and service areas in Itea once again made this event one of a kind.
The night stage also concluded the first day of competition. There were also some dramatic twists and turns, with a steering wheel that jammed due to numerous impacts, but thanks to the intervention of the technicians, it was
quickly fixed between stages during the first leg of the rally. Arrival in Delphi for the closing ceremony of the Rally, in its evocative typical setting.
With this success in Category 3B as a European Championship entrant, Farmakakis
now climbs to second place in the championship standings. The Drive the Legend crew finished the Greek appointment in 28th place overall. Here are their comments at the end of the weekend.
Andrea Farmakakis: “First of all, Fabio and I had fun in the car together and drove a cautious rally, aiming to score maximum championship points. The car performed perfectly and showed no signs of slowing down despite the demanding
course, full of pitfalls and rocks. The guys were all very attentive and well-prepared in all the assistance operations, so
we also thank them for this first FIA EHRC category victory for Drive the Legend. Now we’ll enjoy this moment and start thinking about Elba.”
The next event is already scheduled for the end of September at the Rally Elba in Italy, also counting towards the European Historic Rally Championship.
